Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CW-C8000 a direct replacement for my TM-C7500 or TM-C7500G?
It is the official successor in the same form factor and label-roll format (3 inch core / 6 inch OD). The CW-C8000 uses a different ink chemistry (UltraChrome DL pigment vs the TM-C7500 series’ DURABrite formulations), so ink cartridges are NOT cross-compatible. see CW-C8000 Ink Cartridges. Throughput is significantly higher (11.8 ips at full 1200 dpi) and the high-capacity ink pack design substantially reduces cost per label compared to the older cartridges.
Matte Black or Gloss Black?
Same rule as the rest of the ColorWorks family: Gloss Black is the safer default (works on matte, gloss, and synthetic stocks). Matte Black is darker on matte and plain paper labels but is not recommended for high-gloss media. The choice is permanent once the printer is configured at first setup.
How does the CW-C8000 compare with the CW-C6500A?
Same 8 inch print width but very different throughput class. The CW-C8000 runs at up to 11.8 ips vs the C6500A’s 5 ips. more than double. The CW-C8000 uses a high-capacity 1.9 L pack ink system that lowers per-label ink cost vs the C6500A’s individual SJIC35P cartridges. Pick the C8000 for production-line throughput; pick the C6500A for moderate-volume on-demand work where the lower purchase price and simpler ink system are advantages.
Compatible labels for the CW-C8000?
3 inch core / 6 inch OD industrial label rolls up to 8.5 inches wide. See our complete CW-C8000 label catalogue. the CW-C8000 inherits compatibility with the same label stock the TM-C7500/G family ran on.
Use Cases & Industries
The CW-C8000 is built for high-volume industrial colour label production: prime product packaging at scale, large GHS chemical drum and tote labels, beverage and supplement labels for branded national distribution, healthcare and pharma compliance labels, shipping and warehouse labels in big-box and 3PL environments. The combination of 11.8 ips throughput, 8 inch width, and 1.9 L ink capacity puts the CW-C8000 in a class that competes directly with low-end colour flexo and digital press alternatives at a fraction of the capital cost.
If you’re upgrading from a TM-C7500 or TM-C7500G, the CW-C8000 is the direct replacement in the same form factor with much higher throughput and cheaper ink. For moderate-volume needs on the same 8 inch media, see the CW-C6500A (auto cutter) or CW-C6500P (peeler).
